Gary Fugate
A life long race fan, crew chief Gary Fugate has been with Jason for a number of years
including the micro-midget days. Besides his mechanical and fabrication skills Gary is
the man when it comes to chassis tuning and track set-up. The earned trust between
Gary and Jason over the years is vital to Jason being able to communicate what he
needs to be competitive, and gives him the confidence he needs to get the best on track
performance.

Steve Jones
As engine tuner and tire specialist Steve works with Jason to tune the motor for peak
performance every race, as well as making sure the correct tire combinations and set-
ups are maintained. Also a life long fan of the sport Steve has over 30 years racing
experience in various capacities to contribute to the team. Growing up as kids on the
same street in San Jose, Gary and Steve have been reunited at Newton Motorsports.

Mark Newton
Mark is Jason’s dad. That in itself should be enough to explain the importance of Mark
Newton. While helping to provide the spark that sent Jason into the world of racing, Mark
also provides the behind the scenes support that a dad can bring to a race team. From
helping with tires, mechanical repairs and locating and communicating with sponsors,
to cleaning, organizing and loading up for a race, Mark is there helping his son and the
team every week.  

Maria Newton
Maria is Jason's wife and "the boss" of the entire program. While working full time and
being a mother of (2), Maria still finds time to be an asset to the race team. On work
nights at the shop, Maria makes sure that the crew has a good dinner and clean
uniforms for race night. On race nights, Maria is usually found cheering the team on from
atop the team hauler. Often times Maria tends to Jason's helmets and safety equipment.
In racing it is often hard to be married to a racer; Maria epitimizes a great racing wife!!
This team is lucky to have her.

Manuel Newton
Manuel is the son of Jason & Maria. Manuel is a hard working young man that will
perform any task that comes his way. On race nights Manuel helps keep the car clean,
while at the shop he does anything that he is called upon to do. Manuel has dreams of
taking over the family owned #31 machine someday, and hopes to become a top notch
driver with the World of Outlaws.

Kenny Piraro
Kenny has worked with Jason throughout his days in the micro sprints and continued on
with Jason as he entered the ranks of sprint cars. Kenny works along side Steve & Gary
to make the right set up choices as well as assisting Jason with different on track
techniques and challenges. Kenny has also been a sponsor for the 31 team with his
personal business as a race car parts distributor.

Gary Nelson II
Gary has come aboard on a full time basis with Newton Motorsports for 2008. Gary was
a part time member for the 07' season and has become a real key player for the team.
Some of Gary's tasks include changing gears, fueling the car, and assisting Steve &
Gary with set up tasks. Gary was born into a racing family so he knows what it takes to
perform at high levels.

Dylan Newton
Dylan is the youngest team member, but we're not too sure he isn't the hardest worker.
At the age of (2) Dylan has already sunk what teeth he has into the operations of this
team. On work nights you can usually find Dylan taking all of Steve's tire tools and hiding
them strategically near the car.  No doubt Jason & Maria have their hands full with this lil'
guy, he swears he gonna be a racer.
