Race Report from 5-30-2008

Jason and the team decided to get a few extra laps in this week by running with the Golden State
Challenge 410 series at Ocean Speedway. The team was underpowered, still utilizing their 360 engine,
however still put forth a respectable performance. Jason turned a season best in qualifying with a lap of
12.4 seconds, that is a very respectable time for the Shark Racing Engines powered 360. Jason would
finish 6th in the heat despite never letting those powerful 410 engines get too far away. The main event
would be eventful for sure! With the opportunity to line up with the best California has to offer, Jason was
no doubt excited. Jason took the #31 Valvoline Maxim and started to work his way through cars as best
he could. By lap 9 Jason had moved from his 20th starting spot up to the 16th position. On lap 12 when
trying to get some good momentum up to mount a charge on a few cars directly in front of him, Jason
jumped the cushion and put the #31 car into the outside retaining wall and upside down. Jason was
alright and the car not too badly damaged. Jason didn't seem to unhappy ..."I just missed it, I drove it in
deep  trying to get a good run up top and let it get out there a bit too far. We'll get it all fixed up and be
ready for next Friday night, I am really looking forward to it". Jason and the guys will be ready for action
next Friday night, June 06, 2008 for another round of Wright One 360 series action at Ocean Speedway!

Race Report From Ocean Speedway 5-16-08

The warm temperatures and 23 cars made for some good racing. Jason and the team came in
prepared for a good night, looking to rebound from what they called their worst performance yet. Hot laps
looked good as the car was working good and Jason was on the gas! Qualifying didn't go as well, as
Jason, by his own admission "stepped on it"! Jason was really gunning for a good qualifying effort on a
track that was going slick fast. The first lap was smooth but needed to be quicker; realizing that Jason
drove the car in deep and spun er' out.  The heat race didn't fare much better. Jason started 7th in the
heat and only managed to pass (1) car. The main event brought out a better performance. With a 22nd
starting spot in the feature the team knew they had their work cut out for them. After showing some
patience on the super slick race track the top groove started to come in. It took Jason a little longer than
expected to find out where he needed to be, but nonetheless he found the groove and started moving
forward. When the checkers fell, Jason and the team had a 15th place finish; not quite what they were
hoping for, but definately a learning experience for Jason,; and once again a "finish". Jason was a little
down on himself for not finding the top groove earlier, but that's racing for ya! The team is talking about
running the GSC 410 race at Ocean Speedway on Friday night, May 30th. Jason and the guys are always
looking to get valuable laps as close to home as possible.

Race Report From Ocean Speedway 5-9-08

Ocean Speedway for the 3rd round of the Wright One 360 series didn't go as planned for the #31 team.
The early season struggles continued for Jason and the team. The guys have had problems qualifying
this year and this week was no different. After missing the transfer by one in the B-main, the crew took a
provisional and started 23rd on the field. With a much better handling car and some patience, Jason had
the car knocking on the door of a top ten finish. At the checkers the #31 Valvoline Maxim had made it's
way into the 12th spot. Due to some additional track prep that took an unusual amount of time earlier in
the evening, the curfew was upon us and the race was called with only 17 laps in the books. Jason and
the team are going to be back in action Friday night May 16th for round (4) of Ocean Speedway Sprint car
action. Jason and the team want to thank Griffin Construction for their dedicated support, and was glad
to see them in attendance Friday night.

Race Report from Ocean Speedway 4-18-08

A tough night to say the least was had by the Newton Motorsports team Friday night. With an early
qualifying draw, and a tight race car the team timed in terrible and were behind the "eight ball" all night
long. The car was alright according to Jason in the heat race but, he was unhappy with his performance
and it seemed to show in the end result. The guys went to work to give Jason a car to drive for the
feature; they knew that starting that deep in the field was going to be a tall task. As things would work out,
it just wasn't their night. Jason tried everything he could to move that car toward the front, and the harder
he tried the further back he went. Safe to say, we missed it on this night. The best part of the  night was
that Jason guided the car back to the trailer in one piece. So........we live to race on again. We'll get back
to the shop and get to work on putting a better performance together in a few weeks. Keep checking
back, I am sure there will be some sort of news coming soon..................Steve always has something to
say. Thanks for checking in!!!
