
| Newton Motorsports 2007 Season Race Report Newton Motorsports has made the turn from the 600cc mini sprints into the powerful ranks of sprint car racing this year. It has truly been a learning process for Jason as a driver; the cars are heavier, faster and the tracks are bigger. Jason is racing with some of the best drivers on the west coast each time out. The young team competed in 15 events in 2007, while tackling four different race tracks throughout California. The team plans to regroup through the winter, while looking forward to the 2008 season. The team has purchased a new hauler in hopes of being a bit more efficient for the upcoming season. The results for Jason and the team have been better than expected for this rookie season. Throughout the 2007 season the team has compiled (3) heat race wins, (1) trophy dash win, and (1) main event win. Jason has been awarded the 2007 Ocean Speedway Rookie of the Year award. The team finished with a very respectable 7th place finish in the point standings at Ocean Speedway, while finishing 8th in the standings at Antioch Speedway. September 30, 2007 Newton scores 7th place finish at Antioch Speedway Following their first appearance in a Johnny Key race, the Newton Motorsports team tackled the final sprint car race at Antioch Speedway for 2007. The team had a fast race car for jason early on, but a fast track made passing difficult. Jason took a 6th place start in the heat and made the transfer with a 4th place finish which put him in the 12th starting position in the A-main. Jason battled a tight race car throughout the main event to bring home a 7th place finish. Jason had hustled the race car up to 5th prior to a left rear tire going down. The team experienced some success at the small bullring in Antioch and eagerly looks forward to returning there in 2008 September 29, 2007 Newton finishes 14th in the Johnny Key Classic............ Jason raced his way to a 14th place finish in the return of the Johnny Key Classic at ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Ca. Jason took the green flag with the Valvoline/Wright One maxim in the 11th position. After working his way into a top 5, a late race tangle forced Jason to restart at the tail of the field. The entire Newton Motorsports team was proud to have participated in this prestigious event and will look to better their 14th place finish in next years event. September 17, 2007 Newton Locked in for Johnny key Classic at ocean Speedway Jason and the team have managed to lock themselves into one of the fourteen pre-qualified positions of the A-main event of the historical Johnny key Classic. The Johnny key is one of the most prestigious sprint car races ever to be run in California and it is truly an honor for the team to compete in the event. For Jason, it is a childhood dream to compete in this event. Best of luck to Jason and the team. |
